From Our Guests

A guest shopping at Food for Greater Elgin with a smile on their face.

At Food for Greater Elgin, we've been hearing stories about hungry neighbors caught in impossible situations since 2010. That’s why we built a place where all can feel empowered to select the best food for their family with dignity.

This June, we surveyed our guests to understand better their shopping experience at our food pantry.

Here’s what we learned:

87% of guests shared that the pantry is open when they need it, and 86% of guests shared that they would recommend Food for Greater Elgin to a friend or family member.

When asked about our food selection, 67% of guests shared that Food for Greater Elgin has the kind of food they’d choose at the store.

To the majority of our guests, it’s most important they have the autonomy to choose their own food. Our guests also value:

  • Our welcoming volunteers and staff

  • Simple shopping process

  • Staff members that speak their language
