Food for Greater Elgin is hosting its 12th annual golf outing and fundraiser, Chip in for Hunger, on Monday, September 14, 2026, at Bowes Creek Country Club. A shotgun start will kick things off at 10 a.m., followed by golf, lunch, cocktails, and dinner.

Mention Food for Greater Elgin at Red Robin in South Elgin on the last Friday of the month, and 20% of your bill will be donated to the pantry.

Thanks to a new partnership with Anderson Humane, our pantry is now able to provide limited food for our guests’ beloved animals, as well as the occasional leash, collar, or other pet-owning essential.

The threat to SNAP and Medicaid benefits is very real, and the possibility of both crucial supports getting cuts is terrifying. Unfortunately, the bad news doesn’t stop there. Food pantries like ours are also staring down uncertainty when it comes to funding.

Food for Greater Elgin is facing uncertainty. Will SNAP benefits get cut? The House adopted a budget that includes $230 billion in cuts to SNAP benefits. It’s still unclear whether this budget number will be passed, but appears clear that some cuts will indeed happen.

Food for Greater Elgin is hosting its annual foodie fundraiser, Pallet to Palate, on Monday, April 28, at The Centre of Elgin’s Heritage Ballroom in Elgin from 5:30 pm to 8:30 pm. Get your tickets today!
