Corporate & Group Volunteering: FAQs

We depend on consistent, scheduled groups of corporate and group volunteers to stock our shelves and help our shoppers!

Could your organization commit to a once or twice monthly time slot?

Whether you’re a corporate team, community club, or group of friends, we would love to have you join us! Below are answers to our most common questions about group volunteering.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • We offer weekly volunteer opportunities at the following times:

    • Monday: 5:00 PM – 8:30 PM

    • Tuesday: 8:00 AM – 11:30 AM

    • Wednesday: 10:00 AM – 1:30 PM

    • Thursday: 5:00 PM – 8:30 PM

    • Friday: 10:00 AM – 1:30 PM

  • We can accommodate groups of 5–6 volunteers per shift.

At this time, we can’t host more than 6 volunteers at once. If your group is larger than 6, we would love to schedule multiple shifts! We can always use extra hands.

  • To help us plan accordingly, we ask that you schedule at least 30 days in advance.

  • Our Volunteers help in a lot of different, important roles! This includes:

    • Restocking shelves

    • Sorting donations

    • Greeting guests

    • Assisting in produce, meat, dairy, bakery, or general aisle areas

    • Packing boxes for seniors

    • Parking lot assistance and guest check-in

    • Returning carts

  • Not necessarily! Volunteers from your group may be assigned to different areas, depending on where help is most needed.

But don’t worry–it’s a great way to meet new, awesome people, like yourself!

  • Yes, but with a few important guidelines:

    • Kids must be at least 12 years old to work in the warehouse.

    • Children ages 12–15 must be accompanied by an adult at a 4:1 ratio (four children per one adult).

  • Just basic ones!

    • Wear comfortable, closed-toe shoes (no flip-flops, please!)

    • Be sure all volunteers can stand for the duration of a shift.

    • Wear a shirt with sleeves (short sleeves are totally fine) and make sure your torso is fully covered—this is for safety reasons.

    • We sometimes keep the garage door open during distribution, so it’s a good idea to dress for the weather.

We recommend comfortable clothes you don’t mind getting a little dusty—this is hands-on work that makes a real difference!

  • Ready to book your shift or have additional questions? Reach out to our volunteer coordinator Lupe Salazar at lsalazar@ffge.org or (224) 242-3371, and we’ll get the process started!

Volunteering as a group is a powerful way to build connection, strengthen your team, and give back in a meaningful way. We can’t wait to welcome you!
