From The Executive Desk:
Celebrating Wins and Setting Goals
I’m sitting at my desk in a rare quiet moment at Food for Greater Elgin, grabbing this opportunity to reflect on the past year and sketch out a plan for 2024. Together with your support, we have accomplished so much, but there’s still so much to do!
It’s been an honor—and a tremendous amount of work!—to serve as Executive Director these past six months or so, and I’d like to share some big wins with you here:
Our annual golf outing, Chip in For Hunger, exceeded fundraising expectations and brought in over $70K!
We kicked off our warehouse expansion project in 2023. This will double our storage space and allow us to welcome community partners into our offices, giving us new opportunities to better serve our guests. Our capital campaign has been strong and successful—thank you.
Our team has put a great deal of effort into increasing volunteer and guest satisfaction. We took suggestions and improved processes in the warehouse, even refreshing our look by painting the offices.
Improved box delivery processes, averaging about 1,000 boxes a month.
We have exceeded our overall fundraising goals, a combination of our capital campaign and general operations; grants have also been especially strong.
On top of it all, we continue to see a 15% increase in guests every year.
As we look to the New Year, we have three strategic goals in mind:
Financially Solvent
We want to continue to be good stewards of the dollars we’ve been given.Meet Demand
The needs of our guests—and the number of them—continue to grow.Expand the Warehouse
We look forward to implementing our expansion as we strive to better serve the greater Elgin area.
Thank you for your continued support of the important work we do! You are feeding families and providing hope to so many in our community.
Yours in gratitude,
Andres
