What Our Guests Think of FFGE
Food for Greater Elgin has been nourishing neighbors for 15 years. We’re proud of the work we’ve done and what we’ve learned along the way, always trying to listen, learn, grow, and improve the experience at our pantry.
That’s why we’re dedicated to hearing what our guests have to say.
In June of 2024, we surveyed our guests. We wanted to know if we were meeting their needs, if they felt safe and welcome in our pantry, and how we could do better.
The results were good, but we knew we could do better.
In May of this year, we asked our guests again. Here’s what we learned:
99% of our guests said they felt safe, welcomed, and respected at our pantry.
92% of our guests rated the quality of food as good, great, or excellent, and 93% of guests shared that they would recommend Food for Greater Elgin to a friend or family member, compared to 86% in 2024.
When asked about our food selection, 77% of guests shared that Food for Greater Elgin has the kind of food they’d choose at the store—that’s a 10% improvement since we asked our guests in 2024.
As in 2024, our guests most value the autonomy of choice when shopping at our pantry. They also appreciate the ease of the shopping process, the variety of the food selection, and the abundance of healthy, nutritious food.

While we are always striving to improve, we’re delighted to have such positive feedback from our guests. It’s a testament to the hard work our volunteers and staff put into every distribution.
